Last night I read Guy Davis' The Marquis: Inferno in one sitting. Simply an awesome graphic novel. A couple reasons why:

Davis can draw an intricately detailed, 18th century French city like no one else. I was blown away by some of the backgrounds. He draws them sketchy and quick (I'm assuming), but doesn't spare the details. Read it for the cityscapes alone.

The demons! Holy shit. Seriously disturbed, but endlessly creative. He avoids the stereotypical horns and wings in favor of more fleshy, bizarre abominations, including the most creative take on the devil that I have ever seen.

The grey tones were all cut and applied by hand. Jesus. He admits this in the sketchbook section at the end. Blew my mind.

Also, Mike Mignola wrote the intro and did one of the covers. Serious cool points there.

  • Listening to: Devin Townsend - Infinity EP

I've actually seen that guy's stuff before. His Spidey vs. Venom painting came up in a search. Really, really impressive!
:iconcoffeesinclair:
the skin though, the skin!
most impressive part is the fact hes not a douche
:iconfullmetaljerk:
Man, with skills like that, he could douche around the clock and I would be like "you've earned it."
:iconcalicard:
